Rev. Alvin W. Bunis, Jr.

Senior Pastor

Rev. Alvin W. Bunis, Jr. became Senior Pastor of Plymouth Congregational Church in 2014. From 2010-2014, Al was at Plymouth Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., as Interim Senior Minister and before that as Assistant Minister. He earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Harvard University and a Master of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary. Prior to becoming a minister, Al spent many years in banking, working at several international banks – and attended seminary at night during the final years of his financial career.

Pastor Al grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Lynn, have a son who works for a non-profit and a daughter who is in law school. Beyond his passion for his family and the ministry, Al also enjoys, among other things, tennis (he was on the Harvard tennis team), basketball, and blues-based rock music – especially The Allman Brothers Band.

Rev. Moira McGuinn

Associate Pastor

Pastor Moira is a Miami native who has always called Miami home. She attended Sunset Elementary, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, Coral Gables High School, and the University of Miami. She earned her Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. These are a few of her favorite things: Philippians 4: 4-9, the sound of our congregation singing together in worship, looking across the Plymouth campus in the afternoon light, the beach, films from the 1930’s, and theatre.

Rev. Hollie K. Schmidt

Associate Pastor

Pastor Hollie joined the staff of Plymouth Congregational Church in August of 2023. Before coming to Plymouth, Hollie spent 17 years in Lincoln, Nebraska, serving in ministry at First-Plymouth UCC, Crestwood Christian Church and SouthPointe Christian Church. She has extensive experience focusing on youth and family ministry as well as missions ministry and has been actively involved in mission work locally, nationally and internationally. Hollie earned a degree in Business Administration from Baker University and a Master of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary. She holds full-standing as an ordained minister in both the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.

Hollie grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and is married to Jody Schmidt. They have five young adult children, who are working and in college. When she has a little down time, Hollie and her husband love to spend time at the beach or traveling.
